UK2 Group, a UK-based Web hosting provider and domain name registrar, has acquired WestHost, of Providence, Utah.
UK2.net, flagship member of the UK2 Group family of companies, has operated successfully for 10 years. In that time it has sold over one million domain names and currently hosts hundreds of thousands of Web domains.
In December, 2007, UK2 Group began a program of growth-by-acquistion in the US market by acquiring Midphase.com. WestHost is the final acquisition of that program. The company says its focus now will be on optimizing all its hosting operations and strengthening its position in the market.
“I’ve followed WestHost for years, and I have always been impressed with their quality of service, respect for their clients and great offerings” says Ditlev Bredahl, from UK2, and continues “I want to assure all WestHost clients that they are not going to see any changes in that kind of personal service. We’re keeping the data center in Utah open, because a local presence is important, and we’re keeping the excellent staff there”.
Brian Chambers, WestHost’s Genneral Manager says WestHost can only improve upon what clients are already used to: “I assure all our loyal WestHost clients that our team will continue to provide the same high level of service they have grown to expect. There are no plans to move our support department, or to change the people we already have in place. Quality of service and excellent staff are what WestHost is known for. We are excited about the transition and look forward to many more years of serving our growing client base”.
