Is it Hard to Setup and Manage a Dedicated Server at Godaddy?

February 21, 2019 by Admin Leave a Comment

Linux Cpanel shared hosting: 600 GB disk space, 6 TB bandwidth, free domain, unlimited databases and ftp accounts, web hosting cheap and pro at Hostony

A compare website hosting question:

Hello Everyone!

I run a few websites on a Godaddy shared hosting plan. So far my sites are fine, but I know that if I start to build a lot of traffic (which I hope will happen within the next few months), that I will need a dedicated server eventually.

Right now I manage everything myself (website setup and shared hosting), and have good basic computer skills. However, I have NO experience with a dedicated server at all, and don’t have a clue about how they work. I have heard they are hard to set up.

So my question is, does anyone have experience setting up a dedicated server? If so, would I be able to do this myself, or is it much harder to set up compared to Godaddy’s shared hosting? Do you have any recommendations on how I could learn to do this myself?

Thanks in advance for any insight you can offer into this! Have a great day.

Manage Your Hosting Plan: When To Switch to Dedicated Hosting

February 17, 2014 by Admin Leave a Comment

Seeing your website grow in popularity is a great experience. However, the typical growing pains can cause considerable problems if your bandwidth does not grow accordingly. For websites that have grown beyond the limits of their original hosting plan, dedicated servers are an ideal option.

THN-How to Manage System Services with Webmin

July 10, 2013 by Admin Leave a Comment

Whether you are running a virtual private server, a cloud-based virtual machine, or even a full dedicated server, Webmin is a powerful open source system administration tool that can make the experience easier. One way it can simplify server management for you is through the starting, stopping, and monitoring of system services, such as your web server, database server, and mail transport server.

Start, Stop, Restart

To start, stop, or restart a service, just follow these steps:

  1. Login to webmin and expand the “System” section
  2. Click “Bootup and Shutdown”
  3. Choose the service (we will use “httpd” for this example)
  4. Choose “Start Now” to start a stopped service, “Restart Now” to restart or “Stop Now” to stop a service

Starting at Boot

If you want a service you have newly installed to start when the server boots, you can enable this feature on the same page as the “start” and “stop” functions. Under the “action script” text box, find the option that says “Start at boot time?” and click “Yes”.

Status

If you want to see the standard status message you would receive when typing “service httpd status” for example, you can click the “Show Status” button. The output will look something like this:

Executing /etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd status ..

httpd (pid 2092) is running…

Reboot and Shutdown

At the very bottom of the module index page, you will find the reboot and shutdown buttons. Reboot will take your server down completely and bring it back up running any services you have specified to start at boot. Shutdown will turn it off completely. Therefore, only run it if you have physical access to your server and can turn it back on with the power button.

For more information about the Webmin Bootup and Shutdown module, see the online documentation.

How to manage a Dedicated Server?

May 12, 2013 by Admin Leave a Comment

Dedicated server is all about renting a full computer hardware that you don't have to share with anyone else. This is one of the biggest advantages of having this particular server and this is the reason why everyone prefers having dedicated server rather than shared server.
