I have a Webs.com site for my local hardware store that they are paying me to make, however it would be a little unnecassary to go premium through webs.com and have to pay for month for hosting. So I want a free version of my website, but how would I get a Domain name with like GoDaddy or something for my site? I feel as though paying the a year for the GoDaddy Domain name is much more worth it compared to paying – a month for webs.com Premium Subscription.
Note: I’m not looking to get a free domain name. I can see how my wording would make it look like that is what I am asking, but basically I want a domain name for my Webs.com website, but run through another website, not Webs.com premium services.

Answer:

If you already had a registered domain name, login to your domain registrar’s account. Search for the domain name you want to use. Change its dns settings by clicking the nameservers icon and enter ns1.webs.com and ns2.webs.com respectively. At your webs.com acount, use your custom domain name in creating website.

Note: If you buy a domain and host your website in another web host, just redirect your domains to be pointing to the nameservers of your hosting account. To do this just login to your domain registration site’s account, find the domain manager link, search for the domain name and edit the nameserver 1 and 2. You can find the nameservers details at your hosting account information which your web host email to you.
