ATT Joins OpenStack Launches Mobile Developer Cloud Service
(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — US telecommunications provider AT&T is the first telecom service provider to join open source cloud organization OpenStack, according to an announcement on Monday.
OpenStack chief stacker and VP corporate development at Rackspace Jim Curry spoke at the AT&T Developers Summit at CES in Las Vegas Monday. Curry said AT&T’s support will help drive OpenStack forward, according to a report by PCWorld.
“We’ve been participating in OpenStack for more than a year and have already contributed a blueprint for a potential new function within OpenStack, focused on transactional task management,” John Donovan, AT&T’s chief technology officer said in a blog post. “We’re housing our OpenStack capabilities on dedicated infrastructure in three AT&T data centers today, with locations in Dallas, San Diego and Secaucus, New Jersey. We plan to more than double the number of our centers with open-source capabilities in 2012.”
