***REVISION!!! “Site Name” setting at 3:15 should be set to match your company or domain name. This value is used when members of your site receive emails from from your site, including welcome emails. You can also set this manually at any time after installation in Administration: Site – Global Configuration – Site Settings – Server Also – go to Site – Global Configuration – Site Settings – Site and configure the Meta Description and Meta Tags right away as it takes weeks for google to index these values. Meta Description is the summary shown on google results, and Meta Tags are keywords to help your site get indexed. You might have to manually configure the FTP file system access layer after install if you have errors when trying to install templates. Tutorial here: youtube.com If you run into any problems, I suggest watching my tutorial on how to install Joomla on a FREE 000webhost website; If you can install it there, you can install it anywhere: youtube.com Or, if your provider has Fantastico (or similar auto-installer), you can auto-install Joomla, but you might not be getting Joomla 1.5 that way. Amazing instruction. Joomla itself doesn’t have instruction as clear and concise.

Alex, I think I said this before, but you are the best. This is just one great tutorial video – fast paced, informative, intelligent, yet easy to follow. Bless you, bless you, bless you.

Bless you Alex! I was stuck in Step 5 and even the Joomla forums couldn’t figure it out (or people weren’t interested in helping someone new). I bypassed Step 5 and got to Step 6. I did have a problem with the configuration.php file, but the instructions in installation said to copy the code and upload to my root directory. I am installing Joomla in a sub domain for testing and eventual move to the main site domain. Thank you again!

Hi Alex. I just watched both of your tutorials and recommended them to my hubby. They were very easy to follow and trully educational. I am not a technie but I always wanted to know how to upload templates etc especially after paying out so much money for website development to people who just use these very same FREE JOOMLA templates, customize them and sell them for lots of money. Now thanks to you I can simply do it myself!!!
sofiamedia says
Thanks! This helped alot, I always seem to make things harder for myself and your tutorial made things seem so easy.
