CPanel provides easy to use, intuitive interface for all web masters work. Backup / Restore utility is no exception.

Here is a quick walkthrough for beginners who want to get acquainted with the backup and recovery in CPanel.

Step 1: Go to CPanel.

Step 2: Scroll down the page of CPanel, until it reaches the “Files” section. Here, the icon in the upper left corner should read “Backup”. Click on it.

Step 3: Now you are back up and restore the screen. This is where you will perform all your functions associated with data backup and restore it.

Option 1: Your server, as a rule, select the frequency at which it backs up your data. This can be as often as daily backups, or as seldom as monthly backups. You can download these to your computer as often as you want.

Option 2: manual backup is complete. If you want to create a backup of the site, click on the button labeled “Create or download a full backup.

Click the “backup” and choose the option that applies to you.

Backing up your computer, just need to specify the folder where you will store the backup. Passive transfer mode and Secure Copy is backup modes, which require some technical acumen, but it is not necessary to master them at an early stage.

There are two columns for the “Port” and “Remote directory”, but those can be empty.

After completing the four required columns, click on “Generate Backup”. You can check that the backup was created on your server address, FTP.

We note here that a full backup can not be used as part of “recovery” process. They can only be stored on your computer or use to move your account to another server.

Option 3: A manual backup, partial. You can also create a backup copy of certain parts of your site through CPanel.

Each of these buttons will have a corresponding “Restore” button next to it.

To perform any of these features, click on the button first. Then choose a location to save the backup file.

To restore, simply click the Restore button, select the backup file and click “Ok”. Process will be completed.

Note that the backup file is stored in a.tar.gz format, which is supported natively on Linux, but not Windows. However, setting free 7zip tool will allow you to access the.tar.gz archive. Even if you can not get access, although you can use it during the backup process of recovery.
