Get started with PHP by installing a webserver with PHP and MySQL support. For ease of use and convenience, i’ll be showing you how to install XAMPP available from www.apachefriends.org

    I cant use port 80, apache says its being used? Is it very crucial? Or can I run my files on the filezilla server?

    How exactly do you fix this problem when you get this message: Your configuration file contains settings (root with no password) that correspond to the default MySQL privileged account. Your MySQL server is running with this default, is open to intrusion, and you really should fix this security hole by setting a password for user ‘root’.?

    @port blocked use xp instead of vista ,put your xp cd into cdrom drive goto control panel add remove prgrammes .click addremove programmes and then add remove windows components when a window appears disable iis ,i mean keep it blank without a tick mark complete the process and now your port shall work

    This installed very well, BUT when I try to open phpmyadmin I am told access is denied

    #1045 – Access denied for user ‘root’@’localhost’ (using password: YES)

    Any ideas why?

    @SimpleYTaccount I found my skype was using port 80, on the control panel of Xampp use the check ports button, and see which ports for apache and mysql are in use, and close down the applications, if possible. sorted my problem out.

    I get the same error Simple, I get that the ports are in use and the service installation of apache wasn’t finished.
